Austin Cox Aluminium Chess Set for Alcoa
The chess set was the first in a series commissioned by the Alcoa Corporation (Aluminum Company of America) as a holiday gift for VIP customers. It was released in 1962.
The pieces are cut from solid, milled aluminum bars. The white pieces have a natural finish, while the black pieces have black anodized sides with natural faces to differentiate them.
Each piece is stamped with "1962 Austin Enterprises" on the underside.
The set comee in its original wall-mountable walnut case with a blue acrylic sliding cover.
